About

Artist. Art therapist. Maker of honest things.

I work at the intersection of creative practice and emotional wellbeing — as someone who has lived inside both.

Elizabeth Zachariah — artist and art therapist

About me

Where art and healing meet

I am an art therapist and artist with a Master's degree and experience supporting children aged 6–11 in an international school setting. I offer individual and group art therapy, using a primarily non-directive approach informed by attachment theory and psychodynamic thinking.

I work with children experiencing anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, adjustment challenges, behavioural or social difficulties, and challenges within family relationships. I aim to create a thoughtful, supportive space where each child can express themselves and explore what matters to them through art.

Alongside my therapeutic work, I have a background in visual arts, community arts, and design. This creative experience informs my practice and helps me connect with children through the many ways art can communicate, build confidence, and support understanding.

The practice

As an artist

My own work explores themes of memory, identity, and the body — often through layered mixed media, painting, and collage. I exhibit regularly and maintain an active studio practice alongside my therapy work. The two inform each other constantly: the artist in me makes me a better therapist, and the therapist in me makes me a more honest artist.

What I believe

Process over product

The making matters more than the outcome. What emerges in the act of creating is where the real work happens.

No artistic skill required

Art therapy is not about talent. It's about willingness — to show up, to make something, to see what it says.

The body knows

We carry things in our bodies long before we can name them. Art gives those things a form.

Slow, careful work

I don't rush. Healing isn't linear and neither is the creative process. I follow your pace, not a fixed agenda.
